Savings interest, dividends and other income: what HMRC’s software list says

GOV.UK says HMRC adds some income to your tax return for you, such as employment income it already holds. Other income is up to you: “If HMRC does not have all the information about your other income sources, you will need to add them yourself.” It names savings interest, your share of profit from a partnership as an individual partner and dividends (including those from your own company), among others, and says “You must add this information before you submit your tax return.”

If you have savings interest or dividends alongside your property or self-employment income, it helps to know whether your software can take them before you reach the end of the year. The table shows what HMRC’s list says for each of these kinds of income.

Product by product

These are HMRC’s words as its list stood on 30 October 2026, not something we have tested. “Available” means the list says the product does it now, and “Not stated” means the list says nothing either way. HMRC’s finder shows “Intended” as “In development” and explains it as “The software provider has committed to building this in time for the 2026 to 2027 tax return.” The list gives no date for an individual product, so it is worth checking with the provider before you rely on one. HMRC’s list marks 20 of the products we compare as “Available” for at least one of these. Every product HMRC’s list holds is shown, in alphabetical order, with whether the list says it can send your tax return. The cheapest plan is the lowest price the provider lists, and where its name says it covers quarterly updates only, the plan that sends your tax return may cost more.

Questions about savings interest, dividends and other income

What other income do I need to add to my tax return myself?

Other income is up to you: “If HMRC does not have all the information about your other income sources, you will need to add them yourself.” GOV.UK says HMRC adds some income to your tax return for you, such as employment income it already holds. It names savings interest, your share of profit from a partnership as an individual partner and dividends (including those from your own company), among others, and says “You must add this information before you submit your tax return.”

How many of the products Acrenvo compares can take this other income?

As HMRC’s list stood on 30 October 2026, it marks 20 of the products we compare as “Available” for at least one of savings interest, dividends, employment (PAYE) or capital gains. “Available” means the list says the product does it now, and “Not stated” means the list says nothing either way.

What does “Intended” mean on HMRC’s list?

HMRC’s finder shows “Intended” as “In development” and explains it as “The software provider has committed to building this in time for the 2026 to 2027 tax return.” The list gives no date for an individual product, so it is worth checking with the provider before you rely on one.

HMRC’s software finder shows the current answers, and which products can send your first MTD tax return sets out the tax return itself in more detail.
