Every price change we have verified, with its date and its source

Each quarter, Acrenvo works out every tracked product's paid entry price: the lowest regular monthly price above zero on any of its plans, ignoring plans marked “contact for pricing”. Where a plan is billed yearly, the dataset already stores its monthly equivalent, so that is what feeds this figure too. VAT treatment follows whatever each provider states on its own pricing page, not a rule Acrenvo applies on top. And a cheapest paid plan can cover only part of what Making Tax Digital needs, quarterly updates without the year-end final declaration, for example, so this figure is a floor under what compliant software costs, not the price of a complete setup.

From the paid entry prices across every counted product, the cheapest is the lowest one, and the median is the price in the middle, or, where an even number of products are counted, the mean of the two middle prices, rounded to the nearest penny. “Products counted” is how many products have a paid entry price at all; a product with only a free plan has none, so it is left out of that count. Right now, all 22 tracked products have a paid entry price, so none are left out for that reason. “Changes recorded” is how many entries on this page's price record were logged as a price change during that same quarter.

Quarters follow the calendar, not a tax year: Q1 is January to March, Q2 is April to June, Q3 is July to September, and Q4 is October to December. Once a quarter has ended, its figures are frozen and never move again, so anyone citing them later can rely on them. The quarter marked “provisional” below is still under way, and its figures can still change as prices move or new reviews land.

Automated checks look at each provider's pricing page every week and flag anything that looks different. A flag on its own is never treated as a change. Only when a review confirms the new figures on the provider's own site does an entry appear here, and the review date becomes the recorded date.

The figures are regular prices, so a short introductory discount is not shown as a price change. Where a provider states when its change took effect, that note sits beside the entry. The current prices and this record are available as a JSON file at /data/mtd-software.json. You are welcome to reuse them under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, as long as you credit Acrenvo with a link to this page.
