Recognised by HMRC for Making Tax Digital
LedgerlyPro
Bookkeeping software for sole traders and small businesses, with invoices, expenses, receipts, mileage and payroll records in one plan. It sends MTD quarterly updates for self-employment income, and LedgerlyPro says property income is outside what it covers.

In HMRC’s software finder since 9 October 2026. About this date
HMRC’s software list says LedgerlyPro covers sole trader income and intends to let you send your tax return. What HMRC’s list says
Who LedgerlyPro suits
Sole traders with no rental income who want one plan with invoicing, expenses and mileage, sole traders who would rather import a bank statement file than connect a live bank feed, and sole traders whose accountant would like read-only access to their books.

Good to know
When we last read HMRC's software list, on 2 November 2026, it showed LedgerlyPro's year-end return as planned rather than available. LedgerlyPro's MTD page says quarterly updates and the end-of-year final declaration are live for supported self-employment workflows, so the two differ, and it is worth checking with LedgerlyPro before relying on it for the year-end return. The same page says property income, agent filing and reporting other income sources are outside its current scope, so we do not suggest it when property income is in the picture, and someone whose return includes other income may need other software alongside it. Records come from CSV or Excel bank statement imports and receipts. LedgerlyPro says it does not connect directly to your bank, so we do not show bank feeds. Its website links to its apps on the App Store and Google Play, but we did not find anything on its website saying the apps send MTD updates, so you may need the website to send those. We did not find anything about furnished holiday lets. We checked this on 2 November 2026.
What it can do
‘No’ means LedgerlyPro’s own pages did not show it when we checked on 2 November 2026. The product may still do it, so ask LedgerlyPro if it matters to you.
‘Not stated’ means LedgerlyPro’s own pages said nothing about it either way when we checked.
What LedgerlyPro works with
- Receipts
- Receipts are scanned with AI and sorted into categories, as part of the one Premium plan. LedgerlyPro’s page about receipts
- Your accountant
- Your accountant can be given access to review your records, but they cannot file MTD updates for you as your agent. LedgerlyPro’s page about working with an accountant
- Payroll
- Payroll tools keep employee records, work out gross pay and produce PDF payslips and monthly summaries, with no per-employee fee. You enter PAYE and National Insurance yourself, and LedgerlyPro does not send payroll to HMRC. LedgerlyPro’s page about payroll Our guides to payroll for small employers explain what HMRC asks of you once you take someone on.
- Spreadsheets
- Bank statements come in as CSV or Excel files that you choose to upload, and you check the columns and suggested categories before anything is saved. LedgerlyPro’s page about spreadsheets
We read this on LedgerlyPro’s own pages on 2 November 2026.
