Alternatives to FileThat
The selector keeps FileThat for landlords and sole traders, including people with both kinds of income. Its cheapest plan is listed as £4.99 for each quarterly update, about £1.66 a month for four updates a year, VAT not stated (Pay per submission (qualifying income £30,000 to £50,000)). Of the 13 other products on this page, 10 differ from it on a free plan, eight on bank feeds and nine on support for jointly owned property. FileThat suits sole traders and landlords who would rather pay for each quarterly update than take out a subscription, people with a trade and rental income, or property abroad, who want every income source filed from one place and VAT-registered sole traders who want their VAT returns and income tax updates to come from the same records, and we checked its prices on 25 October 2026.
If it does not fit, these are the other products the selector keeps for the same people. They are in the order the selector itself uses: how well each one fits that kind of income first, then the price, then the name. Each one’s cheapest plan and the points where it differs from FileThat come from our checks of the provider’s own pages, so where we say a product does not offer something, it means we did not find it there.
If you already use FileThat for Making Tax Digital, the guide to changing your MTD software explains what GOV.UK says about when you can move and what happens to your records.
