Alternatives to August
The selector keeps August for landlords. Its cheapest plan is listed as £8.99 a month, VAT not stated (Growth (quarterly updates only)). Of the six other products on this page, four differ from it on a free plan and three on bank feeds. August suits landlords who want rent tracking, compliance reminders and MTD quarterly updates in one app, with HMRC submission on the web, landlords who log property visits as mileage and want it worked out at HMRC's rates and landlords whose accountant works in Xero and would like the same figures passed across, and we checked its prices on 2 November 2026.

HMRC’s software list, as it stood on 30 October 2026, says August intends to let you send your tax return but does not say it can yet. HMRC’s finder explains this as “The software provider has committed to building this in time for the 2026 to 2027 tax return.” Your first MTD tax return lists the products HMRC’s list says can send it.
