Alternatives to Bosh
The selector keeps Bosh for sole traders. Its cheapest plan is listed as £3.99 plus VAT a month (Bosh (quarterly updates only)). Of the six other products on this page, six differ from it on a free plan, two on bank feeds and two on support for jointly owned property. Bosh suits sole traders in the building trades who would like their bank transactions sorted for them, subcontractors on the Construction Industry Scheme who want CIS tracked on the Bosh+ plan and VAT-registered sole traders who want Income Tax and VAT updates in the same app, and we checked its prices on 2 November 2026.
If it does not fit, these are the other products the selector keeps for the same people. They are in the order the selector itself uses: how well each one fits that kind of income first, then the price, then the name. Each one’s cheapest plan and the points where it differs from Bosh come from our checks of the provider’s own pages, so where we say a product does not offer something, it means we did not find it there.
If you already use Bosh for Making Tax Digital, the guide to changing your MTD software explains what GOV.UK says about when you can move and what happens to your records.
HMRC’s software list, as it stood on 30 October 2026, says Bosh intends to let you send your tax return but does not say it can yet. HMRC’s finder explains this as “The software provider has committed to building this in time for the 2026 to 2027 tax return.” Your first MTD tax return lists the products HMRC’s list says can send it.
